Taxpayers should check AIS quarterly and report any errors
To assist prevent erroneous HRA deductions, taxpayers should review their annual information statement every three months and report any inconsistencies.
The Income Tax agency implemented an AIS capability on its portal in November of last year to offer a thorough view of taxpayers’ information and the opportunity of providing feedback.
It also contains extra data on interest, dividends, securities transactions, mutual fund activities, and statistics on international remittances.
Not only at the time of return filing, but also every three months, you must continue to verify your AIS. You should review your AIS and (report) any errors so that the person who is fraudulently claiming benefits can be identified.
