On Wednesday, the Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen wreaked havoc on the Mumbai Indians, shattering the mark for the greatest innings total in Indian Premier League history. In just 20 overs, SRH amassed 277/3 in Hyderabad, easily surpassing RCB’s previous best of 263/5 against the now-defunct Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Against the SRH, the Mumbai Indians were caught in a tactical blunder in their strategy. In order to counter SRH’s aggressive power-hitter Heinrich Klaasen, captain Hardik Pandya and the team management may have planned to save Jasprit Bumrah for later in the game. However, their hopes were dashed when Travis Head, making his SRH debut, and Abhishek Sharma unleashed a spectacular display of power-hitting in the first 10 overs against the MI bowling attack.
