One Nation, One Police Uniform is a proposal put out by PM Modi
In yet another effort to ensure consistency among diverse forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday suggested the notion of “One Nation, One Uniform” for the police.
Speaking at the “Chintan Shivir” (brainstorming session) on internal security held by the Union Home Ministry on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the concept of “One nation, One uniform” for the police.
“One Nation, One Uniform is merely a notion for the police. I’m not attempting to force it upon you. Just think about it. It could occur in the next five, fifty, or one hundred years. Just consider it,” the Prime Minister remarked, adding that he thought police uniforms should be the same all over the nation.
The prime minister stated that he believes all of the police in the nation may be the same.
He argued for coordinated effort by all the agencies to address the new challenges of law and order and security. He also asked state governments to evaluate outdated laws and update them to the present context.
In order to assure effectiveness, better results, and the protection of the general public, he said police and intelligence organisations should work together.
