The authorities released the schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday, and Pakistan is going to play against Nepal in the first match that will take place on 30th August at Kandy which is located in Sri Lanka. Incidentally, we learned from the schedule that the Asia Cup final will take place in the city of Colombo in Sri Lanka on the 17th of September.

India-Pakistan match on September 2

According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, the much-awaited one-day match with India and Pakistan is going to happen on the 2nd of September on the island of Sri Lanka at Candy. The hot favorites, India is going to take on the underdogs Nepal in the identical venue as that of the India-Pakistan match (in Kandy in Sri Lanka) on the 4th of September. Meanwhile, we like to mention that the commencement of the Super 4 will take place from the 6th of September much to the interest of the cricket buffs across the world.

Pakistan to host 4 matches

As we had all expected, Pakistan, another hot favorite, will be hosting as many as 4 matches of this tournament while the remaining 9 matches which comprise the final of the Asia Cup and the 5 Super Fours will take place on the island of Sri Lanka. However, Pakistan expresses its desire in a recent meeting of the ACC (Asia Cricket Council) that it wanted to host in excess of 4 matches for the aforementioned tournament that is going to take place from the 30th of August to the 17th of September.

It is a fact that the weather gods might be unkind when the matches will go on in the island of Sri Lanka which is going to host as many as 9 matches. We are expecting heavy rain during this time of the year in Sri Lanka. As a result, Pakistan demanded at the meeting that it must be permitted to host in excess of 4 games on its home soil.

According to Jay Shah, the ACC president, India and Pakistan are going to remain A2 and A1 respectively in spite of what positions they get after the completion of the preliminary round. Nepal is going to take its position in case either India or Pakistan fails to qualify. On the other hand, India and Pakistan will be playing against one another on the 10th of September at Colombo in case both succeed in qualifying.

In the same manner, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will stay at B1 and B2 respectively in Group B. Afghanistan is going to occupy their position in case either of these 2 teams fail to qualify in the long run.

Both India and Pakistan are involved in some politically tense situations during the last 15 years and these 2 countries are only playing against each other at neutral venues since then.
