IPL  Points Table

One can consider the IPL  points table to be a ranking system that becomes more and more important with the advent of the tournament. It will automatically update depending on the performance of every team during the IPL season. There are as many as 10 teams in total and the points table will monitor their progress while deciding their fate for qualifying for the playoffs.

The points table 2023 regulations

  • The primary objective of every single of the 10 teams in this tournament will be to finish in the top 4 after completing their league-stage fixtures comprising as many as 14 games.
  • The secondary objectives of these teams will be to finish within the top two teams as the 1st and 2nd seeded teams for getting an additional opportunity to qualify for the finals of the IPL 2023.
  • The points table will update according to the points that each team is going to accumulate. In case any two teams finish their league features with an identical number of points, it is their “net run rate” that will determine their position in this table.
  • Each team can get two points for winning a particular game. On the other hand, in case the game ends with no result or as abandoned, a team will get one point. In case a team loses, it will not get any points whatsoever.
  • The “net run rate” will be calculated for figuring out the teams’ final position if two or more teams end up with an identical number of points.

The net run rate of any particular team will be determined as a difference between “the total number of runs that the team has scored to the total number of overs faced” to “the total number of runs that the team has conceded to the total number of overs bowled” during this tournament.
