India bagged ICC U-19 girls trophy

India bagged ICC U-19 girls trophy

It is the first time that the Indian women’s cricket team has been able to win a trophy at the World Cup level in the history of cricket. It was none other than the prolific Indian batter Shafali Verma who had been the captain of his victorious team that won the ICC girls trophy for the very first time. In fact, India was able to outclass their strong rivals England in the final of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup that is taking place for the first time. The juniors of the Indian women’s cricket team have been able to perform something which the seniors were not able to perform before. It was an emphatic victory for the Indians over their arch-rivals England.

The match summary

The Indian team was able to outclass their competitor convincingly by making them all out for only 68 runs. They were able to overcome the target with six overs to spare for emerging the winners without any doubt whatsoever. The Indian players were simply overwhelmed by this victory and it is not possible to express in words their feelings after all. Incidentally, the Indian boys were also able to win the world title last year and now the Indian girls have achieved the same feat. It is definitely a proud moment for Indian cricket right now.

Titas Sadhu was the leading Indian bowler and she received proper support from Parshavi Chopra as well. Together they were able to skittle out England for such a low total that things become quite easy for the batters later on. Interestingly, India was able to register their victory in only 14 overs which speaks volumes of the ability of the team and what they can achieve in the near future.

Titas Sadhu depicted that there is no reason for us to worry about the bowling of the Indian women’s cricket team in the future since she displayed a magical spell right here in the finals. Therefore, we can rightly assert that the departure of Jhulan Goswami after her retirement will not prove to be harmful to the Indian cricket team whatsoever. The Indian girls have rightly depicted this very fact by lifting the girls trophy after beating a strong team like England. As a matter of fact, Sadhu was able to take two wickets by giving away only six runs in four overs. On the other hand, the spinner Parshavi Chopra bagged a couple of wickets by giving away only 13 runs. Another Indian bowler Archana Devi took two wickets for 17 runs which also deserves special mention.

A pep talk from Neeraj Chopra

Incidentally, the ace Indian javelin thrower, namely, Neeraj Chopra gave a remarkable pep talk to the Indian girls before the commencement of the match. This was enough to motivate these girls to snatch a convincing victory over the much fancied English cricket team in an appropriate manner. This is definitely a golden day in the history of Indian cricket.
