Students have to face lots of pressure for their 10th and 12th board examinations a year before. In fact, the pressure starts building from classes 9th as well as 11th. In this situation, the authorities are trying to minimize this pressure with the new exam pattern and New Education Policy 2020. There will be a total modification in the format of education within the next few years.
The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has implemented some major changes in the pattern of the exam. It will aid in minimizing the study pressure on the students while putting some limitations on the present coaching culture as well.
The CBSE board exam for the year 2024 will commence on February 15. The sample papers have already been released by the board at cbse.gov.in, its official site. It will provide the students with more info regarding the marking scheme and the new examination pattern. There will be more competency-based questions in the CBSE board exam for the year 2024. It will help the students to comprehend the subject rather than trying to memorize it.
Class 10
There will be 50% case or competency-based and other types of questions in class 10, 20% of the questions will be MCQ, 20% will be of the response type, and the remaining 30% will be constructed response type questions.
Class 12
40% of the questions are going to be case or competency-based in class 12, 20% will be of the response type, 40% are going to be of the construction type questions, and 20% will be of the MCQ type.
What do you mean by competency based questions?
The students have to provide answers to these competency-based questions in the form of case studies, assertion and reasoning, objective type, response-based, or any other format. These questions can evaluate the innovative thinking skills of the candidates by testing the application of knowledge in real-life scenarios. In this way, its intention will be to improve logical and qualitative learning among the students, unlike memorizing core subjects.
