Details On Traffic Restrictions In Delhi From 8 To 10 September Due To G20 Mega Event

The G20 Summit, a major international meeting of the world’s leading economies, will be held in Delhi from 9 to 10 September 2023. In view of the summit, the Delhi Traffic Police has imposed a number of traffic restrictions in the city.

The following roads will be closed from the intervening night of September 7-8 to September 10 night:

  •  Mathura Road (beyond Ashram Chowk)
  • Bhairon Road
  • Purana Quila Road
  • Inside Pragati Maidan Tunnel

  •  Akbar Road
  • Janpath

  • Man Singh Road
  • Sansad Marg
  • Rajpath
  • Tilak Marg
  • Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
  • Sher Shah Suri Marg
  • Ring Road (from IP Estate to Vikas Marg)

  •  ITO
  • Pragati Maidan

  • India Gate

Only the following vehicles will be allowed to ply on the roads mentioned above:

  • Bonafide residents of the area

  • Authorised vehicles
  • Emergency vehicles
  • Vehicles of passengers travelling to the airport, Old Delhi and New Delhi Railway Stations

The Delhi Traffic Police has advised people to use the following alternatives to road travel during the G20 Summit:

Metro

The metro will be operating with increased frequency and the bus services will also be augmented.

Bus

 The bus services will be augmented and special bus services will be operated between the airport and the city centre.

Delhi Airport Express Line

The Delhi Airport Express Line will be operating with increased frequency.

Private vehicles

People can also use their private vehicles, but they should avoid travelling in the restricted areas.

The following parking arrangements will be in place:


Parking will be prohibited in the areas mentioned above. However, parking will be available at designated parking lots.

The following other restrictions will also be in place during the G20 Summit:

  •  No flying of drones or kites

  •  No carrying of firearms or explosives
  •  No sloganeering or demonstrations

  •  No unauthorised entry into the restricted areas

The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the people to cooperate with the authorities and avoid travelling in the restricted areas during the G20 Summit.
